PNGrab — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Overview

PNGrab is a Chrome extension that lets you save any image on the web as a PNG file. It is designed to be private by default: all image conversion happens locally inside your browser, and the extension does not collect, upload, or transmit any user data.

Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:

  • No images are uploaded to any server. Conversion is performed entirely on your device.
  • No analytics, crash reports, or telemetry are sent.
  • No account is required and none is created.

Local Storage

The extension stores a small amount of data in your browser's local storage using the storage permission. This is limited to the metadata of your last saved file — its filename, size, time, and download id — and is used only to display the "Last saved" card and a "Show in folder" shortcut in the popup. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted.

Permissions and Why We Use Them

  • contextMenus — to add the "Save as PNG" item to the right-click menu on images.
  • downloads — to save the converted PNG to your device and to reveal it afterward.
  • storage — to remember the metadata of your last saved file for the popup.
  • <all_urls> host access — to fetch images from any website you are viewing, since the extension works on any page.

Third Parties

PNGrab does not share any data with third parties. It does not use remote code, and no JavaScript is loaded from external servers.

Your Rights

Because no personal data is collected or stored remotely, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side. You can clear the extension's local storage at any time from Chrome's extension settings. For questions, contact vhxnga@proton.me.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
